Can’t We All Just Get Along? Vaccines

Posted by Deb on Jun 4, 2009 in Autism Therapy |

As the Executive Director of a non-profit, I have to walk a tight rope between what I “feel” is right and what is right for my foundation.  I have members of my board who feel as I do, and members who don’t.  The whole vaccine drama is one place where tempers flare, people get upset and no one accomplishes anything for autism.

Each side is just as passionate.  And feels that they are right.  In my opinion, they are.  They have a right to make that decision for their children.  Just as I feel I have the right to make a decision whether I want my child vaccinated or not.

Most children in America are vaccinated.  There are a few that, if vaccinated, would have immune response issues and would become violently ill.  Many people in the autism community believe the MMR vaccine caused their child’s autism.  Some don’t.  This is not the reason for my blog today. The reason for my blog is simply this:  the right to choose.

Parents should have the right to choose whether their child is vaccinated.  Whether it is with a single dose or the “cocktail”.  Whether their newborn baby is vaccinated against hepatitis B or not.  Whether their child is given a live or killed virus in the vaccine.  And whether there are preservatives in their child’s vaccine (like thimerosal or aluminum). By the way, thimerosal is still used in the inactivated influenza vaccine.

Thank you to the FDA for that tidbit.

I wish that the autism community could see that CHOICE is the answer.  Not mandate!  Whether you believe your child was vaccine “damaged” ( I hate that word!) or not, we all need to work together to make sure that all 50 states have a medical waiver in place!  To ensure that parents have a choice!  Not a government mandate!  Isn’t government involved in enough of our business already?

It is without a doubt a mother’s choice whether her child should be vaccinated. My daughter just had her third child and chose not to submit him to any. We are fortunate to have the option with our Pediatrician to break it down.

My second grandson has horrible immune system problems and has also not had anything other than the initial vaccine given at birth. he too could very well have been affected by the vaccines required by governmetn…..in order to get him into school she has had to sign something saying for religious reasons she has chosen not to have them vaccinated.

We are fortunate that we have been introduced to NAET….there is an 86% recovery success rate for autism in this little known field . Our NAET doctor became aware of it when her 2 year old became autistic after a very high fever and has since fully recovered through this treatment. I encourage you to read about NAET and autism if you are unaware of it.

Hello Sandy!

Good for you all! I’m so glad that your daughter educated herself between the birth of the second and third child.

I still remain a “recovery” skeptic, but I have seen remarkable progress made with children who were once profound and are now making great progress with HBOT, dietary and biomedical intervention. I believe it depends upon how autism was introduced to the body. But, I’m not an expect with letters in front of or behind my name. ;)

I’m so happy for you all. Maybe your grandson is one of the few that did “recover”. And I think that is wonderful!
